In this paper, we propose a T-antenna with the whole printed structure. It is quite effective for a rectangular array in a microwave DOA estimation system. The element antenna consists of two printed circuit boards, in which the radiating one with T-element is perpendicularly mounted on the bottom patch. Bandwidth enhancement technique using two-parallel T-elements is also proposed; and its validity is confirmed by using FDTD analysis and an experiment. To understand the antenna mechanism, an equivalent circuit is also introduced.
