An omni-directional pattern antenna that is composed of two fed-notches and tow parasitic-notches on a finite ground-plane is proposed in this paper.
Antenna characteristics including current distribution on the ground-plane are analyzed by using the finite integration theory. They show that the omni-directional pattern is produced by rotating current on the ground-plane, which is excited when the parasitic notch is in resonance.
Radiation characteristics are discussed in terms of ground-plane size and shape. The results indicate that the aspect ratio of the ground-plane affects the frequency stability of the omni-pattern circularity, and the chamfering the ground plane does cross-polarization suppression.
The measurement characteristics are also shown, which shows the validity of the calculated results with their related discussion in this paper.
